Renovation
The groundbreaking ceremony for a water supply and drainage project is held at the Drepung Monastery in Lhasa, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on June 25. As one of the 22 government-sponsored renovation projects in Tibet, the 17.39-million-yuan (about $2.55 million) renovation project will involve the construction and upgrade of water supply and drainage systems at the monastery. Built in 1416 on the outskirts of Lhasa, it is the largest and most influential monastery of the Gelug Sect (Yellow Sect), a branch of Tibetan Buddhism (XINHUA)
