| Shaking Hands | | Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou (R) shakes hands with Chen Yunlin, chief of mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Strait (ARATS) in Taipei at 11:00 a.m. on November 6, 2008. The meeting lasted only five minutes, at which officials of ARATS' Taiwan counterpart, the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), were also present. Chen visited Taiwan at the invitation of the SEF and returned to Beijing on Friday; his visit marked the first ever talks between the ARATS and the SEF leaders on the island. (Xinhua) |
