Lee Myung-bak Sworn in as South Korean President
South Korea's new president Lee Myung-bak takes an oath during his inauguration at parliament in Seoul on February 25, 2008. Lee stressed that South Korea will develop a strategic alliance with the United States and seek peace and mutual prosperity with South Korea's close neighbors, including Japan, China and Russia. Chinese President Hu Jintao's special envoy Tang Jiaxuan, Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, Russian Prime Minister Victor Zubkov, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar are also invited to attend the ceremony.
