Ancient Frescos Discovered in Shandong
The picture taken on January 17, 2008 shows a piece of ancient fresco displaying a meeting between the two famous Chinese philosophers Lao Zi (about 600-500 B.C.) and Confucius (551-479 B.C.). The fresco was discovered in a tomb dating back to some 2,000 years ago in the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-25 A.D.) at a museum in Jinan, capital of east China's Shandong Province. The well-preserved color frescos included images of drinking, dancing, cock fighting, women servants and historical stories. It is said to be the best preserved ones discovered in the region so far and would be valuable in the study of funeral and folk customs and painting arts during the Western Han Dynasty. (Xinhua)
