Daoqing Shadow Play Revives in Classrooms
A teacher introduces the way to make Daoqing shadow play to the hobby class in Huancheng Primary School of Huan County, northwest China's Gansu Province, November 20, 2007. Initiated by the local government, a program called "Promoting Daoqing Shadow Play in Classrooms" has been launched recently aiming to protect the ancient art. The Play features a single performer who manipulates all of the characters and conducts the orchestra as well. Huan County, the birthplace of the Daoqing Shadow Play, now has more than 90 shadow play groups, all of which are made up of farmers. (Xinhua)
