First Migrant Workers' Day in Chongqing
Migrant workers from rural area in Chongqing enjoy a free day tour on the first Migrant Workers' Day in China, November 4, 2007. Initiated by the Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, the activity aims to make the workers feel secure. The theme of the Day is "Fusing into the city, realizing your value". Various activities have been launched, such as free consultations on employment, residence, law, schooling, health and culture, etc., and free health check-ups and day tour around Chongqing. The government will set a theme every year on Migrant Workers' Day that falls on the first Sunday of November and spare no effort to help them, said a senior official from Chongqing. (Xinhua)
