Successful Test Flight at the World's Second Highest Airport
Tibetan girls dance and sing to welcome the first civilian flight on a test fly to Ganzi at the Kangding Airport of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, October 28, 2007. Standing 4,280 meters above the sea level, the Kangding Airport is the world's second highest airport only to the Qamdo Airport of Tibet Autonomous Region. The test flight on Sunday ends the history of lacking civilian flight in Ganzi. The airport was designed to handle 330,000 passengers and 1,980 tons of cargo and mail annually. It will not operate until May 2008. (Xinhua)
