Sonam Degyi offers service to passengers in a train on the Qinghai-Tibet Railway on September 28, 2007. Sonam Degyi is China's first Tibetan female train conductor. Graduated from Southwest Jiaotong University of the inland, Sonam soon became a train crew and was later promoted to be a train conductor. Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the world's longest plateau railroad, is 1,956 km long, with 960 km of the track located 4,000 meters above sea level and the highest point at 5,072 meters. (Xinhua) |
