The World's Largest Mother Glass Panel for LCD Displayed in Japan
Mikio Katayama, Japan's electronics giant Sharp president, displays the world's largest mother glass panel for the company's LCD display, measuring 2,850 x 3,050mm at a reception in Tokyo, August 2, 2007. Sharp announced on July 31 that it would invest about $3.2 billion in a huge new plant making LCD panels for large screen televisions. The pioneer of LCD screens aims to increase its competitive edge over rivals with the high-tech new plant, which it hopes will drive down costs. (Xinhua/AFP)
