| A total of 910 college student volunteers from Eastern part of China, such as Shangdong and Henan provinces, as well as local volunteers get together at Xinjiang Agriculture University July 24, 2007 to attend the kick-off ceremony of the volunteer program for the Western region. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has received 3893 college student volunteers of the Western Region Program in the recent five years, and some 450 volunteers chose to stay after their one- or two-year service period ceased.
