Global Call to Action against Poverty
British Prime Minister Tony Blair (R) and German Chancellor Angela Merkel hold placards on the occasion of the handing over of a collection of signatures collected under the slogan Global Call to Action against Poverty -- your voice against Poverty -- during a joint press conference at the Chancellery in Berlin, June 3, 2007. Merkel and Blair met to prepare the upcoming G8 and EU summits. They discussed a new proposal from US President George W. Bush on fighting global warming, which appears to sidestep European calls to set ambitious and binding targets on curbing greenhouse gas emissions. (Xinhua/AFP)
