The 60th Anniversary of Cannes Film Festival Opens
Chinese actress Qi Shu (L6) and Maggie Cheung (R4) among judges and guests pose during the opening ceremony of the 60th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, southern France, May 16, 2007. The road movie set in the United States Blueberry Nights, directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai and starring soft-note singer Norah Jones is to open the Cannes film festival in France in a showy bow to the event's global credentials. A lavish sprinkle of Hollywood stars and veteran filmmakers, a dash of arthouse fare and new international discoveries -- the Cannes filmfest celebrates its 60th edition with a tried and true recipe for success.
