Disabled Subway Travelers Receive Personal Assistance during Paralympic Games

The Beijing subway company will offer personal assistance for people with disabilities traveling on Beijing subway lines who make appointments by telephone during the Paralympic Games.

Disabled subway travelers can call the subway service center (010-68345678) in order to receive assistance from subway personnel. After they inform the operator of their travelling information subway employees or volunteers will meet them at the station and provide door-to-door service, including any assistance required to enter and exit the subway system.

The subway company has installed obstacle-free ramps in each of the 123 stations to provide access to disabled travelers. They can get into and leave the stations in wheelchair elevators or stair lifts. Braille information boards are available at all stations. Special toilets have also been installed for disabled visitors, athletes, and other personnel.
