Isinbaeva of Russia Sets New World Record to Win Gold

Russia's Elena Isinbaeva successfully defended her Olympic title in the women's pole vault at the National Stadium on August 18.

Two-time world champion Isinbaeva set a new world record, her third of the year, when she cleared 5.05m on her third and final attempt.

Jennifer Stuczynski of the United States took the silver with 4.80m, while Svetlana Feofanova of Russia, silver medaslist at the 2004  Athens Olympics, took the bronze at 4.75m.
