Michael Phelps Breaks World Record of Men's 200m Freestyle
 
 

Michael Phelps of the United States won the gold medal of men's 200m freestyle with a new world record of 1 minutes, 42.96 seconds at Beijing Olympic Games on Tuesday.

It was Phelps' third gold medal at the Games. The silver medal was taken by Park Taehwan of South Korea at 1 minutes, 44.85 seconds; the bronze medal went to Peter Vanderkaay of the U.S. at 1 minutes, 45.14 seconds.
