Chinese director Gu Changwei and his actress wife Jiang Wenli attended a promotional event for his second film Li Chun (And The Spring Comes) in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Saturday.

The film, which has gained wide acclaim among moviegoers, marks the first time the eye-catching couple has worked together on a movie, according to a report in the Chengdu Evening News.

The event in Chendu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, is one of several stops on the couple's promotional tour. They said they consider their tour as their second honeymoon, giving them a rare opportunity to reunite and relax, the report said.

The couple said they would not be tightly tied together when working on projects in the future. Jiang is busy writing her own movie script about childhood. She said she plans to have a directorial debut sooner or later, the report said.

Jiang had gained 15 kilograms to portray a plump woman who is crazy about opera in Li Chun. She won the best actress award for this role at the 2nd Rome Film Festival in 2007.

In the meantime, Gu has found adequate funding for a new commercial movie that will be different from Li Chun and early films such as Peacock, the report said.
