China is to raise bunker surcharge on domestic airlines starting from July 1, according to the national price and civil aviation watchdogs.

China News Service reported Monday that the fuel fees for lines within 800 kilometers will rise to 80 yuan, from the current 60.

For longer trips, it will rise by 50 to 150 yuan, according to a circular issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and Civil Aviation Administration.

Infant passengers can still fly for free, while children, revolutionary disabled army personnel and police officers who became handicapped from work can enjoy a 50 percent discount.

Passengers who bought tickets before July 1 for flights after the date do not need to pay the extra cost, but will do if they change their flights.
