Pavilions in Expo Site Extend Hours for Summer

All pavilions have agreed to stay open until 22:30 and welcome visitors to the Expo at night, Hong Hao, director-general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, announced at a press conference Tuesday in Shanghai, the Jiefang Daily reports.

Hong said that about half the visitors who enter in the morning leave after 17:00, and the potential for accommodating visitors to the Expo site during the evening is significant.

Starting from June, Shanghai will be hot, rainy and windy, but organizers have made great efforts to provide visitors with facilities to accommodate these weather conditions. The organizer will also provide up-to-date weather forecasts for the visitors, Hong added.

More than 40 million tickets have been sold, and many ticket holders will likely visit the Shanghai Expo in June. Activities to be launched in June are expected to bring more than 3 million visitors to the Expo Site.

In addition, entrance exams for senior high schools and universities will be held in early June, so a huge number of young visitors are expected during the vacation. To handle the situation, the organizer will strengthen monitoring of visiting trends to make sure enough food and water are provided and that transportation runs smoothly.
