Xi's Focus: Xi Jinping on China-Central Asia cooperation | |

The China-Central Asia Summit took place in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, on May 18 and 19. Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted the meeting, which was attended by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The milestone summit is the first in-person gathering among heads of state of China and the five Central Asian countries since China established diplomatic ties with them 31 years ago. Xi is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
