Makhdoom Babar, President and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail, Pakistan has snubbed U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for playing dirty tricks over the one-China Policy by addressing Taiwan's local administrator as "Taiwan's president" in an official communication.

Speaking in a live Talk Show of the CMG on May 20, Makhdoom said that by describing a local administrator of an internal part of China, as "president" of that part proved that nincompoop of what degree the U.S. Secretary of State was as neither Taiwan is a "sovereign state" nor it had anyone with the title of president.

"In which document and at what level did the U.S. ever recognize Taiwan as a 'sovereign state'? When did U.S. announced that it would be dealing officially with Taiwan as a ‘separate state' and not as an integral part of China?" Babar questioned.

"U.S. had clearly stated that the U.S. Government recognizes the government of People's Republic of China (PRC) as the sole legal government of China. How can they simply move away from this documented commitment and obligations?" he added.

He said that the U.S. Government is on record to have recognized the Chinese Government as sole legitimate government and thus Washington has been maintaining unofficial relations with Taiwan under the framework of Taiwan Relations Act (P.L.96-8), shaped by three U.S.-China Joint Communiqués under which U.S. is bound to keep its official relations with Beijing alone as China.

"There is no question and no ambiguity about the status of Taiwan and the whole world knows it and that was why Taiwanese officials were shut out of the World Health Assembly organizers from this Forum recently with the WHO officials saying that for since last 49 years, UN and WHO were maintaining the clear stance that there was only one legitimate representative of China and that was PRC within the U.S. system," Makhdoom asserted.

According to Makhdoom, people and thinkers in Pakistan were concerned with this undiplomatic maneuver by the U.S. towards China as Pakistan was the first country that played the leading role in paving the way for establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the U.S. which were now being sabotaged by Washington. "Pakistan played a vital role in this direction and first visit of the U.S. Secretary of State to China was organized and facilitated completely by Pakistan. That is the big reason why people of Pakistan feel highly disturbed and dismayed now when they see someone at Washington bent upon destroying these ties," he said.

He added that since Pakistan and China stand together against evils of terrorism, extremism and separatism, therefore neither the Government of Pakistan nor the people of this country would ever remain silence over any conspiracy of separatism in any part of China.
