A Pakistan International Airlines flight carrying procured medical supplies by the Pakistani National Disaster Management Authority and donated relief goods from China took off from the Beijing International Airport on April 2. The goods include testing kits, scanners, KN95 masks, gloves, goggles, protective clothing, surgical masks and other items.

The Embassy of Pakistan is in touch with the Chinese Government, private companies and charitable organizations, calling on them to donate equipment and items needed by Pakistan in its fight against the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). So far, the embassy and its affiliated consulates have received more than 30 tons of donated relief items.

On this occasion, Pakistani Ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi said that China is a close friend of Pakistan. Amid the recent outbreak, the Chinese Government, companies and organizations have open-heartedly come out to help Pakistan. In Beijing alone, goods worth 25 million yuan ($3.51 million) have been received in donations and more are expected soon.

The friendship between the two countries transcends the traditional parameters of bilateral relationship. This time-tested, all-weather strategic cooperative partnership is based on unparalleled mutual trust, understanding and commonality of interests. Generous donations from Chinese entities at this critical time are meant to convey strong support and solidarity with Pakistan.

The donation campaign is part of an ongoing endeavor of the Embassy of Pakistan to arrange medical equipment and personal protective equipment to help the country combat the pandemic.
