President Xi Delivers Keynote Speech at APEC CEO Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Da Nang, Vietnam, on November 10.

Xi emphasized the importance of following globalization, calling it an "irreversible trend" as the world economy has undergone profound changes in the last couple of years.

"Development is a journey with no end and we should follow the trend of the global economy," says Xi. "Economic globalization should be more open, balanced, and equitable."

During his speech, Xi also vowed to continue making efforts to the development of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific and the building of a community with a shared future.

To achieve that, China will increase its input into innovation and, more importantly, strengthen its effort on opening up.

"China will not stop pace of opening up to the world, and making it a larger and more comprehensive market in the coming 15 years," says Xi.

After the speech, Xi will also attend a dialogue with representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council later on November 10, as well as an informal dialogue with leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

U.S. President Donald Trump also spoke at the meeting.

Themed "Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future," the APEC 2017 meeting will end November 11.
