The China International Publishing Group and Japanese nonprofit think tank Genron NPO co-host a press conference for the 13th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, in Beijing on April 18 (LI FANGFANG)

The 13th Beijing-Tokyo Forum, a major platform for nongovernmental dialogue between China and Japan, will be held in Beijing in December, said the event's organizers during a press conference in Beijing on April 18.
"This year's forum will mainly focus on building a world order that is more open, and safeguarding the peace of Asia," said Wang Gangyi, Vice President of China International Publishing Group (CIPG), the co-organizer of the forum, after a preparatory meeting.
The CIPG and Japanese nonprofit think tank Genron NPO will continue to co-host this year's forum. Since being inaugurated in 2005, the annual Beijing-Tokyo Forum has been held alternately between the capitals.
At the meeting, representatives agreed to hold sub-forums on diverse topics ranging from diplomatic affairs to bilateral trade. Meanwhile, the two sides will boost regular dialogue on security affairs under the framework of the forum. Additionally, polls on Sino-Japanese relations will be conducted in both countries, with the results to be published ahead of the forum.
This year is the 45th anniversary of the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations. “The forum should take this opportunity to discuss how China and Japan will address the challenges and opportunities brought by major shifts in the global landscape and provide constructive advice to enhance bilateral cooperation based on previous experiences,” said Wang.
