Beena Sarada, a science teacher with Xi'an Langjiatan International School, Shaanxi Province, came to China in August 2019. In a recent interview, Sarada shared her comments on China's fight against COVID-19 with Beijing Review reporter Li Nan. An edited excerpt of her views follows: I'm from India and my country is going through a terribly tough time now. I'm just so glad I was here. Everything was okay. China is the only country worldwide that has controlled the spread of COVID-19. It was managed very well. At certain times, you don't talk about personal freedom if it is for the benefit of a lot of people. If I don't wear a mask when I go out, and if I spread this to a whole community, then I don't think we should think about freedom at all. That is not freedom. Freedom is living your life, without causing problems for others. In my mind, if I can go out and get everything I need, that's all the freedom I want. I have all the freedom I want.
