African Countries Actively Participate in B20 Summit
By Ni Yanshuo | Web Exclusive

On August 2, the 2016 Organizing Committee of the Business Twenty (B20) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) held media briefings in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, to introduce the preparations and work to be carried out for the convening of the B20 Summit.

Wu Meng, the group leader of the B20 Organizing Committee, told ChinAfrica, a monthly publication of Beijing Review, that African countries are taking an active part in the 2016 B20 Summit. Besides South Africa, which will participate as a member state of G20, Egypt, Chad and Senegal will also take part in B20 Summit as guest countries.

"African countries are very active. Each African country's Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been arranging for enterprises to take part in the summit, which shows African countries' strong desire to push economic cooperation with China," Wu said.

Yu Jianlong, Secretary General of the B20 Secretariat, said the B20 Summit will be made up of an opening ceremony, a plenary session and a closing ceremony. Chinese President Xi Jinping will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony on September 3.

This year, the summit will set up five working groups comprising 533 representatives of global industrial and commercial enterprises, business associations, international agencies and think tanks to discuss six topics--financing growth, trade and investment, infrastructure, development of small and medium-sized enterprises, employment, and anti-corruption.
