- Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities

Adopted at the 17th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress on December 28, 1990, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities entered into force as of May 15, 1991. It was the first law to protect persons with disabilities in China.

The law was revised at the Second Meeting of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People's Congress on April 24, 2008 and entered into force as of July 1, 2008.

- National Day for Supporting Persons with Disabilities

The third Sunday of May every year is designated as the National Day for Supporting Persons with Disabilities, according to Article 14 of Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities. It was entered into force in 1991.

- Certificate of Person with Disabilities

The first-generation Certificate of Person with Disabilities was issued in 1995. The second-generation certificate was issued in 2008. Since January 1, 2010, only the second-generation certificate is valid.

- National Vocational Skills Competition for the Disabled

The first National Vocational Skills Competition for the Disabled was held in Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei Province from May 15 to 19, 1989. Approved by the State Council, China's Cabinet, the competition has been held every four years since 2003. The year 2015 witnessed the fifth event.

- Sunny Welfare Home Plan

The Plan was co-implemented by the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Ministry of Finance. The Central Government offered 200 million yuan ($31.28 million) anually from 2009 to 2011 for nursing institutes and households capable of nursing to provide boarding services for adults with learning, mental, or severe disabilities. From 2012 to 2015, the Central Government granted 2.5 billion yuan ($391 million) annually to fund boarding services for 1.8 million persons with learning, mental, or severe disabilities.
