Museums across China marked the 44th International Museum Day, May 18, with various activities. This year, the International Council of Museums’ theme for the day was “Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion.” It celebrated the diversity in museum communities, seeking to overcome biases in what museums display and the stories they tell.

Museums in China, closed earlier this year owing to the epidemic, have gradually reopened and visitors walked in to celebrate the event. Online exhibitions were also held to enable remote visits.
