President Xi has recognized China International Publishing Group (CIPG)'s role in delivering China's voices and promoting exchanges between China and foreign countries. Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in a congratulatory letter to honor the 70th anniversary of the agency, also known as China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration. At a symposium held in Beijing on September 4 to mark the anniversary, Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, called for further improvement in CIPG's work in telling China's stories and enhancing the exchanges between China and the rest of the world. CIPG was established on October 1, 1949 as the international news division of the national press administration of the Central Government. It now has 26 overseas offices in 14 countries and regions, with print publications distributed in over 180 countries and regions and online audiences around the world. It issues 34 periodicals in 13 languages. Each year, it also publishes about 4,000 titles of books in over 40 languages.
