Gong Daoan
The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has announced it is investigating Shanghai Vice Mayor Gong Daoan for suspected violations of law. The top anti-graft authority made the announcement on August 18.
Gong, 56, born in Lixian County in Hunan Province in central China, worked in the public security system of neighboring Hubei Province and the Ministry of Public Security before transferring to Shanghai in 2017. He worked in Hubei in his early years and later served as director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau in Xianning, Hubei.
Before he was appointed head of Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau in June 2017, Gong held posts at the Ministry of Public Security. He became vice mayor of Shanghai in January 2018. He was also the Party head and director of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau.
