The government recently announced new plans to subsidize childcare services. These subsidies, accounting for 1 billion yuan ($145 million) in the central government budget, will strengthen the capacity of the childcare system, as well as confidence in its quality.
They will contribute to incentives for workers and other inputs to child development, and are an important step in optimizing the distribution of social resources. The initiative is also expected to improve the development of children in China by improving access to childcare, improving childcare facilities, and improving management and operational protocols, thus bringing benefits to current and future generations of children.
