Zhong Ying
Zhong Ying, founder and CEO of an agricultural technology company in Yueyang, central China's Hunan Province, was awarded the May Fourth Medal. The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the All-China Youth Federation released the list of winners on April 27. Twenty-nine other young people and 13 groups from various fields across the country, including scientists, soldiers and teachers, were also given the medal. Born in 1981, Zhong started her own business in 2009 and has helped local farmers increase grain output by over 80,000 tons. She has created jobs for over 3,600 rural residents and assisted over 1,000 impoverished households. Every year, she donates several hundred thousand yuan to households hit by natural disasters and poverty-stricken people. The award was established in honor of the May Fourth Movement of 1919 led by young Chinese intellectuals and participated by people from all walks of life, a great patriotic and revolutionary campaign fighting against imperialism and feudalism. |
