New Cyberspace Affairs Head
 NO. 33 August 16, 2018

Zhuang Rongwen was appointed head of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, according to a statement posted on the commission's website on August 1.

The commission was upgraded from the Central Leading Group for Cyberspace Affairs in March in order to further improve the country's virtual network construction, safeguard cybersecurity and promote Internet-related development in the latest round of reform of Communist Party of China (CPC) and state institutions.

Zhuang is also deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and head of the National Copyright Administration.

A native of southeast China's Fujian Province, Zhuang has worked for the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Fujian Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council.
