Hello and welcome to the 42nd issues of Beijing Review.
Cover design by Cui Xiaodong COVER STORY Our theme for this week is the Long March. The Long March Goes West concerns Edgar Snow, the first Westerner to have direct contact with the Communist Party of China, way back in the 1930s. He famously documented the Long March, giving the international community a unique insight to the historic event. CULTURE When Will Peace Come? looks into the ongoing crisis in Syria and in the city of Aleppo in particular where government forces are still fighting opposition groups. BUSINESS Wetland Regeneration is an article on restoring China’s wetlands in the northeast. Farmland has been converted back to wetland, allowing several species of bird to thrive in the habitat once more. Copyedited by Dominic James Madar Comments to chenran@bjreview.com |
