Keywords to Understand China: The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was issued in a number of languages at the Beijing Book Fair on January 10.

The book is part of the Keywords to Understand China series, a joint effort of China International Publishing Group (CIPG), the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, the China Academy of Translation and New World Press. It introduces readers to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) by decoding key terms, including Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

“The Keywords to Understand China series is another attempt to expand the field of Chinese political discourse after the publication of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, and explains China’s practical exploration in typical Chinese expressions,” Lu Cairong, CIPG Vice President, said at the launch ceremony.

“The translation of Keywords to Understand Chinese is the fruit of numerous professors and academicians from an international perspective and adheres to China’s principles,” said Huang Youyi, Vice President of the China Academy of Translation. He also pointed out that during the translation process, translators achieved the balance between translation standards and international expressions, creating books that are easy for targeted readers to understand and successfully improving their reading experience.

The book was translated into 14 languages, including English, French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Turkish and Kazakh. Diverse media platforms are being applied to promote the books, with a special website as the main source, along with domestic and traditional media and social networking sites, and multi-form platforms, including video animation and mobile terminals.

Prior to the latest book on the 19th National Congress of the CPC, two other books have been published, namely, the original volume and a second on the Belt and Road Initiative.
