The first China-Pakistan International Neurosurgery Forum was held at Zhongnan (Central South) Hospital of Wuhan University, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral medical cooperation.
The forum brought together leading neurosurgeons, scholars and administrators from both countries to promote academic exchange, joint training, research collaboration and the broader vision of building a China-Pakistan health corridor.
Speakers from Wuhan University and Central South Hospital highlighted the importance of international cooperation in advancing clinical standards, talent development and global health governance.
A key highlight was the participation of Professor Azam Niaz of King Edward Medical University, who outlined the current state and challenges of neurosurgery in Pakistan and called for expanded training and research opportunities in China.
Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz, President of the China-Pakistan Medical Association, presented the concept of a China-Pakistan Health Corridor, proposing the establishment of a China-Pakistan Medical Tourism Center at Central South Hospital and a telemedicine center at Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
The forum also showcased achievements in brain glioma research and cerebrovascular surgery cooperation.
Concluding the forum, Professor Chen Jincao confirmed five neurosurgery fellowships for Pakistani doctors at Central South Hospital and reaffirmed the role of the forum as a platform for sustained China-Pakistan medical collaboration.
The event laid a strong foundation for long-term cooperation in neurosurgery, research and medical training between the two countries.
