Chinese Vice Premier Hu Chunhua stressed meteorological support to ensure the success of the activities to celebrate the 70th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on September 19.
Hu, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks while inspecting the China Meteorological Administration.
The administration should improve the accuracy of weather forecasts and provide targeted services according to arrangements for the celebrations, Hu said.
Various response plans should be in place to deal with potential adverse weather conditions while rehearsals should be carried out to identify problems, he said.
China will put on a grand celebration on October 1, China's National Day, to mark the PRC's 70th founding anniversary.
