Rainfall starting on August 5 puts an end to the scorching weather that has gripped north and northeast China for almost a week, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) reported.

From August 5-7, rain and thunderstorm are expected to hit most parts of north China, northwestern China, and parts of northeast China, the NMC said.

Parts of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Jilin and Liaoning Provinces are going to have downpour which will help relieve drought in those regions, meteorologists noted, warning that unbalanced rainfall may generate floods in one place while drought still remain in other places.

Experts suggested precautionary measures be taken to prevent floods, mountain torrents and other geological disasters.

Since July 29, heat wave has hit most parts of north China with historic high temperature occurring in many areas in Jilin and Liaoning that generates drought.
