China's domestic-built J-20 stealth fighter made its public debut at an air show in the southern city of Zhuhai.

China's air-force pilots flew the new-generation warcraft for one-minute amid cheers from crowds.

The development of the J-20 is progressing as scheduled, and it is expected to further boost the fighting capacity of the Chinese air force, said Shen Jinke, spokesperson for the People's Liberation Army Air Force, at a press conference.

Shen said that the fighter jet will help the air force better fulfill the mission of "safeguarding national sovereignty, security and territorial integrity," adding that the J-20 is adaptable for the future.

The new domestic-built supersonic anti-ship missile CM-302, which has a maximum range of 290 km, also made a maiden appearance. It is able to target large and medium-sized surface ships.

The 11th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition runs from November 1 to 6 in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.
