The basic line of the CPC in the primary stage of socialism is to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted, self-reliant and pioneering effort to turn China into a modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious by making economic development the central task while upholding the Four Cardinal Principles and the policy of reform and opening up.
