The World Manufacturing Convention (WMC) 2019 will explore cutting-edge technologies, the future of innovation, as well as global cooperation by gathering leading manufacturing companies, organizers said.
Themed Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creativity: Embracing the New Era of Manufacturing, the convention, to be held on September 20-23 in Hefei, capital of east China’s Anhui Province, will provide significant opportunities for international technological exchanges, said Zhou Xi'an, Vice Governor of Anhui. A new highlight of WMC 2019 is that there will be a guest of honor, and the first one will be the United Kingdom, which will host events such as project promotions and forums at its national pavilion. Compared to the inaugural convention held last year, more enterprises have been invited, including some 60 Fortune 500 companies such as Volkswagen, Hitachi and Whirlpool. “It is hoped that good cooperative projects will be reached after efficient communication,” said Zhou. According to Zhang Jian, an official with the Bureau of Commerce of Anhui Province, the first edition reached agreements on 436 projects, with over 75 percent of them under construction. WMC 2019 will also promote industrial integration in the Yangtze River Delta by setting up a special exhibition area for Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and Shanghai Municipality.
