Situated at the foot of the second peak of Mount Zijin (Purple Mountain) in Nanjing, the construction of the tomb started in January 1926 and was finished in the spring of 1929. The architect was Lu Yanzhi. Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) is considered the "Father of Modern China," having fought against the imperial government of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and, after the Revolution of 1911 ended the monarchy, founded the Republic of China (WANG XIANG) |
