The 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held solemnly in Beijing from August 12 to 18, 1977. A preparatory meeting was held on August 11. Comrade Hua Guofeng was elected Chairman of the presidium and Comrades Ye Jianying, Deng Xiaoping, Li Xiannien and Wang Dongxing were elected Vice-Chairmen. Deng reassumed his leading posts in the state and the Party .
