The Second Plenary Session of the 10th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was held in Beijing. The session discussed the preparatory work for the Fourth National People's Congress and elected Deng Xiaoping to be Vice-Chairman of the Central Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau.
