Chinese athletes finished an amazing Olympic run on October 1 with 59 medals, including 28 gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze, ranking third behind the United States and Russia. Their success was a historic breakthrough in China's Olympic record. Furthermore, Chinese athletes broke world records 12 times in eight events, and 11 Olympic records in 11 events.
