Wen Jiabao, ethnic Han, native of Tianjin, born in September 1942. Joined the CPC in April 1965 and began working in September 1967. Graduated from the Beijing Institute of Geology, majoring in geological structure. With a postgraduate education. Engineer.

1979-1981: Deputy Director and engineer of Gansu Provincial Geological Bureau.

1981-1982: Deputy Director General of Gansu Provincial Geological Bureau.

1982-1983: Director General of the Policy and Law Research Office of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources and member of the ministry's Leading Party Members' Group.

1983-1985: Vice Minister of Geology and Mineral Resources, member and Deputy Secretary of the ministry's Leading Party Members' Group and Director General of its Political Department.

1985-1986: Deputy Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee.

Jia Qinglin, ethnic Han, native of Botou, Hebei Province, born in March 1940. Joined the CPC in December 1959 and began working in October 1962. Graduated from the Department of Electric Power of Hebei Engineering College, majoring in electric motor and appliance design and manufacturing. With a university education. Senior engineer.

Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Secretary of its Leading Party Members' Group.

1956-1958: Student majoring in industrial enterprise planning at Shijiazhuang Industrial Management School.

1958-1962: Student majoring in electric motor and appliance design and manufacturing at the Department of Electric Power of Hebei Engineering College.

1962-1969: Technician at the Complete Plant Bureau of the No.1 Ministry of Machine-Building Industry and Deputy Secretary of the bureau's committee of the Communist Youth League of China.
