Hong Kong newspapers on Monday splashed substantial layouts towards the closing of the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
"The contributions by the CPC 17th National Congress were historic," the Wen Wei Po newspaper said in a commentary, referring to the CPC's continued support for the reform and opening-up drive, the enshrining of the Scientific Outlook on Development into the CPC constitution and the smooth leadership change of the Central Committee.
The Ta Kung Pao newspaper said in a commentary that the CPC has advanced its guiding thought by enshrining the Scientific Outlook on Development, building a harmonious and upgrading the communists' ruling capabilities into the revised CPC constitution.
The newspaper said Hong Kong and Macao would continue to benefit from China's reform and opening-up drive under the guidance of the Scientific Outlook on Development.
The Hong Kong Daily News commented that the Scientific Outlook on Development was the answer to new problems and challenges arising from fast economic growth by putting the people first, sharing fruits of economic prosperity with the people, reducing environmental woes and achieving sustainable development.
The Ming Pao daily said in its editorial that the paper remains optimistic on a sustainable and fast development of China's economy after the 17th National Congress of the CPC.
The Hong Kong Economic Times, the Hong Kong Economic Journal, Sing Tao Daily, the Sun all gave notable coverage on the enshrining of the Scientific Outlook on Development into the CPC constitution and the smooth leadership change of the Central Committee of the CPC.
