The Wuhan-Guangzhou high speed railway will go into operation Saturday with 28 passenger trains carrying an estimated 1,300 people.

Travel time between Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei province, and Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong province, will be cut to 3 hours from current 10.5 hours.

The high speed rail link is 1,068.6 kilometers in length and is built to the highest technical standards.

The stations along the line have distinct designs representing local styles and are built to be environmental-friendly with easy access for disabled people.

The first batch of 500 passengers got to take a test ride Thursday.
